Michel, please find below information regarding SAN to Unified upgrade:
Upgrade kit consist both from HW and SW parts and depends from current storage configuration. Minimal requirements is two controllers with enough memory and NIC-CA each. Please contact with sales representative for it.
Next, please visit the License Portal: https://ts.fujitsu.com/LicenseRegistration/Login.aspx
In order to get the Unified license, you need to have email, storage model, serial number and TAN (8-digit trade number). Access the website and enter those items. After pressing the “issue” button, a license key will be sent to the input E-mail address.
Download the Unified firmware V11L31-1000 UNIFIED on the link below: https://support.ts.fujitsu.com/IndexDownload.asp?lng=COM&SoftwareGUID=58e78dfe-b890-458f-9080-34db067e9ee0
Start Maintenance: [System] -> [Start/End Maintenance]
Register Unified Storage License: [System] -> [Register Unified License]
Register Unified Firmware: [System] -> [Firmware maintenance] -> [Apply firmware] -> [Expert mode] -> [Registration and Update] -> Choose the Unified firmware file -> [Next] -> [Offline update (required storage power cycle)] -> [Next] Updating will start.
After update finished successfully, power off the system: [System] -> [Utility] -> [Shutdown/Restart] -> [Shutdown]
After system shutdown, install new memory and NICs if needed.
Boot Unified Storage: Power on. Check if storage status is [Normal], and [Unified Storage] is [Enable] Status of NAS Engine inside each CM will be Maintenance until creating System volume for NAS. System Volume will be created automatically after creating the NAS volume by server administrator.
After update finished successfully. delete non-Unified firmware: [System] -> [Firmware maintenance] -> [Delete firmware] -> Choose non-Unified firmware -> [Delete] Make sure, you delete all non-Unified FWs.
Add NIC-CA to configuration: [Component] -> [Controller Enclosure] -> [Channel Adapter] -> [Add Channel Adapter] Repeat the procedure for the second NIC-CA.
Restart system: [System] -> [Utility] -> [Shutdown/Restart] -> [Restart]
Check, if device OK. Finish Maintenance. Now volumes can be created by server administrator from server side.
Considering it is a quite complicated sequence, it's recommended to be performed by a certified Fujitsu technician. For more details, please, contact your sales manager.
Also, there are very good detailed instructions on the Partner Portal: https://partners.ts.fujitsu.com/sites/dmsp/Publications/Service-partner/tm-DXS3S4_UnifiedUpgradeManual.PDF
It's regarding the S3-S4 families, but the procedure is the same. The Partner Portal is available for certified engineers only.
Thank you

Hi Nuno, very thanks for your rapid response. Please let me clarify myself better on this topic:
As I already shared with you, the storage system configuration from my custormer is the following:
1x ET DX100 S5 Base Encl. 2.5 wo/CM The ETERNUS DX100 Base 2,5“ with 2U footprint provides 24x slots (empty) for HDD 2x slots (empty) for Controller Module (CM) 2x Power Supply installed 8x DX1/200S4 Value SSD 1.92TB DWPD1 2.5 x1 16x DX1/200S4 HD SAS 2.4TB 10k 2.5 AF x1 2x DX100 S4 CMx1 8GB iSCSI 2P 10G no SFP 1x DX100 S4 32GB Mem.Ext. 2X(1X16GB) f. 2CM 4 x DX1/200S4 SFP+ 10G x2 8 x SFP+ Module Multi Mode Fiber 10GbE LC 1x ETERNUS ACM Remote copy 1x ETSF16 ACM LocalCopy Tier1 1x ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager V16 Local Copy License for Tier1"
Here you can see that there are 4 inter-connect iSCSI modules each with 2 x 10G ports, so I do not be clear if it is possible to add Ethernet interconnect modules for NAS features even when the rest of configuration meets the requirements for unified such as 32GB RAM. Beyond the procedure to activate the unified function I need to be sure if the customer can go on with this configuration or if we need to change something.
Best Regard

Hi Michel.
If there are no free slots available on CM, then one CA should be removed, so that NIC-CA can be installed.

Hi Nuno,
Very thanks for your response, the storage DX100 S5 is configure with 4 iSCSI CA for SAN redundancy and REC feature for Disaster Recovery. So I think it will not be possible to use the unified function.
With such setup I have a total of 8 iSCSI ports, maybe I can combine 2 iSCSI CA with 2 Eth CA for unified function. By doing so I will reduce the iSCSI ports from 8 to 4. In such configuration I can use 2 iSCSI ports to connect hosts (via switches) and 2 ports for REC function (not sure if REC requires a minimum number of ports greater than 2).
If you have any idea about it or best practice, please advice me.
