Adding AST tier in SF Manager: Modify layer of Tier Pool ERROR:ssmgr3527
02.10.2017, 22:14

Hi Storage guys,

IHAC with DX100S3 with AST licence and 2 tiers of disk already working (SSD 400GB and NL 4TB) perfectly. Smile

Now we are adding third (3) Tier of 8+2 NL 10TB disks, but we are hitting this error:
ERROR:esast1202:ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser error has occurred. detail=ERROR:ssmgr3527:The specified value reaches the upper bound.
Confused

Does anybody know what is causing this error?

Background:
We are trying to add 10 NL disks (RAID6 8+2) to existing pool with SF Manager | AST | Tier Pool | Modify Layer.

We have no problems with selecting disks and configuring new tier, but after submitting this configuration, we get an error in Jobs pane.

Disk configuration is like this:

We have found message ssmgr3527 Explanation in Eternus SF Messages manuals, but this comes with no answer for us. http://software.fujitsu.com/jp/manual/manualfiles/...

If we are doing something wrong, please help us!?

Thanks for any hints or answers,
Regards

David

Hi David,

look like you have hit the max capacity that has been set for Thin Provisioning (AST is based on ThinProvisionion btw.).

How much capacity have you already used up? Can you tell?

You can set the max pool capacity on the hardware GUI of the DX100 S3. Have a look at "Thin Provisioning"->"Settings". There you can see the actual max size. It starts with 32TB and goes via 64TB, 128TB, 256TB...

You need to increase the value according to you needs and then create the new SubPool in AST. Once you have done that, you need to move the data from the other SubPool to the newly created, delete the old SubPools and recreate them. Reason for this is the chunk size of the pools cannot be changed for an existing pool, only for new pools.

In case I am right and max pool size IS the issue you have some work to do Smile

Bye
Dirk
