Hi everybody,
Last week, Europe's data protection authorities agreed to allow for a one-year "probation period" of the EU–U.S. Privacy Shield. Privacy Shield replaces the former Safe Harbor agreement that the EU High Court found insufficient in last November. Under the terms of the agreement, U.S. companies that store and/or process data from European business partners can sign up for a related program with the U.S. Department of Commerce and obtain compliance certificates, either from service providers like TRUSTe or by way of self-assessment.
Will this decision affect you, and if so, how? And what do you think about the Privacy Shield regulations in general?
Best regards
Gerold
