Flexible platform to address key applications such as virtualization and software-defined storage

FUJITSU x86 servers provide a solid foundation for today’s hybrid IT reality with powerful and flexible solutions for companies of all sizes, across all industries, and for any type of workload. While all these systems are designed to handle multiple workloads, each server is optimized for specific use cases. In this article, you’ll be able to find out more about the new FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY RX2450 M1 Rack Server, a dual-socket x86 server (2U) powered by 2nd Gen AMD EPYC™ 7002 Series Processors, ideal for virtualized environments such as a high-end enterprise server or as a hyper-converged solution.

The demand for secure, high performance computing is driving the need for modern data centers that deliver a balanced IT infrastructure, workload acceleration, and data protection. Significant parts of today’s economy rely on data, and this dependency on business insights will only increase in the future if companies collect, catalog, and use data in every step of their supply chain. In order to deal with this multitude of data, analyze it, and use it effectively, you need a solid and powerful IT infrastructure for your data center on which you can build on your transformation to a company driven by business data. The introduction of the new AMD-based PRIMERGY server offers your company fantastic opportunities.

The PRIMERGY RX2450 M1 is a dual-socket 2U rack server that delivers powerful performance together with flexible configuration options. Being the first AMD-based rack-mounted server in the current PRIMERGY portfolio, it is powered by the 2nd Gen AMD EPYC™ 7002 Series Processors. AMD EPYC™ 7002 Series processors provide businesses advanced security features and groundbreaking application performance resulting in faster insights and value. The server system is ideal for traditional and emerging workloads such as virtualized and cloud computing environments, all kinds of service providers, HPC and VDI scenarios or to build a hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) solution. Along with enhanced DDR4 memory technology supporting 3,200 MT/s, the server features sufficient memory capacity provided by 32 DIMM slots in total supporting 2TB of memory.

In particular, the increased core count of the AMD processor as well as the amount of DIMM slots provide great VM, container and application density. The design of the server offers balanced expandability with up to 24 hot-swap 2.5” storage drives and up to four PCIe 4.0 expansion slots. PCIe 4.0 delivers double the I/O performance over PCIe 3.0, provides 128 PCIe lanes, and satisfies voracious needs for east-west bandwidth. The PRIMERGY RX2450 M1 comes with two redundant 1600W high-efficiency (platinum level) power supply units, and in total four fan modules with speed control providing efficient system cooling.

The security of applications and data hosted in a data center or in the cloud depends on the server, storage, and networking infrastructure. This security paradigm should start at the microprocessor level. Featuring advanced security features and a silicon-embedded security subsystem, AMD EPYC™ Family of Processors are “Hardened at the Core” helping customers guard their most important assets – their data. AMD EPYC™ processors boast a set of advanced security features, called AMD Infinity Guard, which includes the AMD secure processor, Secure Memory Encryption (SME), and Secure Encrypted Virtualization (SEV). All of these features help minimize potential attack surfaces as software is booted and executed and processes your critical data.

  • First AMD-based server in the current PRIMERGY rack-mounted portfolio;
  • Dual-socket x86 server (2U) powered by 2nd Gen AMD EPYC™ 7002 Series Processors;
  • Scale from 8 to 64 cores (16 to 128 threads) per socket, up to 256MB L3 Cache, up to 3.70 GHz base and 3.9 GHz max. frequency, 128 PCI Gen4 Lanes and up to 280W TDP;
  • Drive traditional and emerging workloads with 32 DIMM slots (up to 2 TB memory);
  • Scale to meet demands with up to 24x 2.5” storage drives and up to 4x PCIe 4.0 expansion slots;
  • Accelerate applications with support for up to three double width GPU cards.

To help our customers move, store, and process massive amounts of data, FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY RX2450 M1 delivers powerful performance based on the 2nd Gen AMD EPYC™ 7002 Series Processors – all in 2U dual-socket rack-mounted form factor. This makes the new server ideal for traditional and emerging workloads and applications – such as virtualized and cloud computing environments – as a high-end enterprise server or to build a hyper-converged solution.
