FUJITSU’s answer for the compute requirements of today and tomorrow

FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY systems are designed to be scalable and agile, and are available in versatile rack and tower form factors plus high-density, workload optimized, modular designs. To optimally address workload and price/performance considerations, FUJITSU server systems field a wide range of the Intel® Xeon® Scalable processor family.

The PRIMERGY M5 server generation will now support 17 new CPUs of the 2nd generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable processor family (codenamed “Cascade Lake -SP Refresh”) for enhanced performance. These processors leverage high-performance compute cores, built-in acceleration, and advanced security features to pave the way into the data-centric future.


Technical highlights of the enhanced Intel® Xeon® Scalable processor family

Depending on the server and its specific use cases for which it is optimized, the new CPUs are intended to boost performance across three key workload categories, namely high-performance requirements, mainstream usage and standard entry level workloads.

The specifics of these are as follows:

  • Higher peak frequencies for the highest performance workloads: The new processor family has two new Intel® Xeon® Gold 6200 processors delivering up to 4.5 GHz Intel® Turbo Boost Technology, up to 3.9 GHz base frequency, with up to 33% more processor cache, offering customers breakthrough performance for frequency optimized workloads.   • Mainstream usage performance boost: New Intel® Xeon® Gold 6200R processors designed to deliver enhanced performance for mainstream workloads via a combination of higher base and Intel® Turbo Boost Technology frequencies, plus increased processor cache.


  • Entry usages get enhanced value and capability: New Intel® Xeon® Gold 6200U, Silver 4200R and Bronze 3200R processors deliver increased value for single socket, entry, edge, networking and IoT usages.

The new Gold segment CPUs also support Intel® Optane™ DC persistent memory technology, which delivers a unique combination of affordable large capacity and support for data persistence.


The Server PRIMERGY family adds a wide range of the latest CPUs

As the following Server Support Matrix demonstrates, FUJITSU customers can choose from a wide range of options for performance and budget optimization.



Server CPU choices precisely tailored to workload use cases

The workload-versatile PRIMERGY Server TX2550 M5 is the premier tower server model and supports up to nine of the new CPUs spanning cost-effective Bronze, through Silver models, to performance-oriented Gold models.

Amongst the rack systems, the FUJITSU PRIMERGY RX2520 M5 is the baseline data-center system and supports five of the new CPUs, while the RX2530 M5 and RX2540 M5 offer the widest choice of 17 new processors, as they handle a range of standard and heavy duty workloads. The FUJITSU Server RX4770 M5 is the most powerful rack system, and it supports the two quad-socket capable, highest performance Gold series processors.

When it comes to the FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY Multi-Node (CX) systems, the HPC oriented CX2550 M5 will field up to 12 of the performance oriented Gold series processors, whereas the CX2560 M5, which is intended for a wider range of use cases, will receive four new Gold processors plus Bronze and Silver options for enhanced workload flexibility. The premier CX2570 M5 will boast the widest range, up to 16 of the new processors, across all three categories.



Software sophistication adds ease of use

The underlying hardware of the data-center infrastructure can be managed, operated and updated using a single point of control with the Fujitsu Infrastructure Manager (ISM). On top of the infrastructure, Fujitsu offers virtualization and hybrid cloud management software from strategic partners like VMware, Microsoft and Nutanix.
