FUJITSU’s Mono-socket servers pack even more power for their workloads

By featuring the latest processors and more memory capacity, FUJITSU‘s upgraded portfolio of entry-level PRIMERGY servers are designed to enhance and future-proof workload performance for small and medium-sized businesses. The new mono-socket PRIMERGY servers offer a cost-effective on-premises alternative to the Cloud, especially for office tasks such as powering shared databases – and for use at the network edge, where latency and bandwidth prove to be a challenge for Cloud environments.

The latest Intel Xeon E-2200 processors are standard across the mono-socket line-up, providing a significant performance boost. Maximum memory capacity is increased to 128 GB, easily handling tasks such as hosting a shared database in a branch office.

RX1330 M4

The PRIMERGY RX1330 M4 refresh provides significantly higher performance with the latest generation of processors such as the powerful Intel® Xeon® E-2200/E-2100 product family processors, higher memory capacity – 128GB DDR4 at 2,666 MT/s, expandable storage with 10x 2.5-inch drives, including 4x high-speed NVMe drives, or 3.5-inch configurations plus a rich set of optional expansions for future growth with 3x PCIe slots. Its high energy efficiency and excellent reliability alongside being economical makes it an ideal foundation for many SMBs across industries.

Choose the RX1330 M4 when you need:

  • a small file server;
  • simple infrastructure services like domain server, virus scanner, SME applications;
  • to run small ERP and database applications as well as collaboration and communication applications;

To evaluate its servers and the benefits of their compute and technology enhancements, FUJITSU benchmarks all its servers against strict criteria which judge both workload applicable performance as well as energy-efficiency.

On November 1, 2019, the PRIMERGY RX1330 M4 with Xeon E-2288G processor was ranked first in the 1-socket Xeon E server systems category for the benchmark SPECspeed2017 int_base.

A quick note about the benchmarks: SPECcpu2017 contains two different performance measurement methods: the first method (SPECspeed 2017 Integer or SPECspeed 2017 Floating Point) determines the time which is required to process a single task. The second method (SPECrate 2017 Integer or SPECrate 2017 Floating Point) determines the throughput, i.e. the number of tasks that can be handled in parallel. The performance per power can also be measured during performance measurements, by measuring the system power with a power meter.

There is also the SPECpower_ssj2008 benchmark which utilizes methodology to enable its users to measure the energy-efficiency of workloads at multiple load levels.

 

TX1320 M4

The FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY TX1320 M4 is an advanced, ultra-compact, silent mono-socket tower server designed for SMEs and space-constrained environments, while delivering power-packed performance for standard business workloads. The server features the powerful Intel® Xeon® E-2200/E-2100 product family processors and up to 128DDR4 memory at 2,666 MT/s. It supports up to eight 2.5-inch SAS/SATA devices for standard needs and can include up to four NVMe high-performance devices for demanding storage requirements, with cost-effective 3.5-inch drive configurations also available. Advanced storage and networking controllers with up to 4x PCIe slots, plus high-efficiency, redundant power supplies offer reliable, enhanced performance. The latest server management software options simplify and empower server administration.

Choose the TX1320 M4 when you need:

  • a highly energy-efficient, full-fledged server designed for space constrained workplaces;
  • to execute standard SME workloads – file/print, web, email, messaging, ERP/CRM, or industry specific applications, light virtualized W/L;
  • to cover legal needs or offices with requirement for compact, secure data storage;
  • very easy to use servers;

The Xeon® E-2200 product-family processors brought a steep change in performance. The PRIMERGY TX1320 M4 with a Xeon® E-2288G processor scored heavily in terms of energy-efficiency while performing. It was ranked first in the 1-socket Xeon® E server systems category for four benchmarks, SPECspeed2017 int_energy_base, SPECrate2017 int_energy_base, SPECspeed2017 fp_energy_base, SPECrate2017 fp_energy_base.

In terms of pure performance, the platform saw a 15% improvement in the SPECrate2017_fp_base benchmark when moving from the Xeon® E-2186G to the Xeon® E-2288G CPU, while the SPECrate2017_int_base saw an even bigger improvement of 39%. Furthermore, on June 5, 2019, PRIMERGY TX1320 M4 achieved a new class record with the benchmark SPECpower_ssj2008 benchmark result, proving itself to be the most energy-efficient 1-socket Xeon E2100 server in the world at the time.

Overall, the benchmark results demonstrate that the TX1320 M4 fields the latest technology with actual gains in terms of highly energy-efficient workload-applicable compute.

 

TX1330 M4

The server features the powerful Intel® Xeon® E-2200/E-2100 product-family processors and up to 128GB DDR4 memory at 2,666 MT/s, ideal for both standard business workloads or industry-specific apps. It supports 24 2.5-inch SAS/SATA devices for standard needs or even combinations with up to four NVMe devices for high-performance storage, or even 3.5-inch drive configurations for optimal flexibility. It can handle standard business workloads while also meeting specific business requirements for high levels of storage expandability and networking capability, enhanced with 4x PCIe slots for upgrades. The server also features highly efficient, redundant power supplies plus effective software server management for easing administrator burden.

Overall, the platform saw a 16% improvement in the SPECrate2017_fp_base benchmark when moving from the Xeon® E-2186G to the Xeon® E-2288G CPU, while the SPECrate2017_int_base saw an even larger improvement of 41%.

The substantial gains in compute performance are directly relevant to both rate and throughput influenced workloads.

 

State of the art software-management software suite

All three servers support the FUJITSU Infrastructure Manager (ISM) suite and iRMC S5.

The iRMC S5 enables simple and effective management throughout the entire server lifecycle, including deployment, installation and administration.

FUJITSU Software Infrastructure Manager enables organizations to have centralized control over the entire data center which includes servers, storage, networking, cloud management software as well as power and cooling using a single user interface. ISM is also capable of distributed data-center management, making it a path to a software defined data center.

The servers field the free ISM Essential license for standard infrastructure management capabilities while more advanced features can be unlocked via the ISM Advanced license.
