Fujitsu Launches New Record Breakers

Fujitsu is expanding its PRIMERGY dual-socket server line up with new models specifically designed to bring business growth to data centers whose overall expansion options are limited by energy and space restrictions.

The new rack and blade models help customers reduce infrastructure costs, improve energy efficiency and accelerate workloads to deliver best, scalable productivity levels without straining possible limits on rack space, power and cooling:

  • The new PRIMERGY RX2530 M1 rack server delivers maximum performance from a slim 1U body, making it the perfect fit for virtualization and scale-out deployments. Its capabilities are underlined by a new SPECpower_ssj2008 energy efficiency benchmark record in the class of 1U rack servers at launch, achieving a new record with a score of 9811 overall ssj_ops/watt. Available in three configurations with varying storage capacities (from four 2.5 or 3.5 inch SATA or SAS HDDs to ten 2.5 inch SSDs with partial PCIe support), it may be equipped with up to two processors from Intel's Xeon® E5-2600 v3 family – starting with rather normal quad- and six-core CPUs like the Xeon® E5-2603 or Xeon® E5-2623 and 'maxing out' with the 18-core flagship Xeon® E5-2699. Main memory capacities range from 8 to 768 GB at launch; models with 1.5 TB RAM are to follow in Q2/2015. The PRIMERGY RS2530 M1 supports all popular operating systems ¬– including Windows Server 2008 R2/2012/2012 R2 and various Linux flavors from Red Hat, SUSE and Oracle – as well as leading virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere and OVM; as per usual, Fujitsu's management suite ServerView is part of the package. For more details, please see the data sheet (PDF).
  • The PRIMERGY BX2580 M1 (pictured above) is a fresh server blade line fit for deployment within Fujitsu's BX400 and BX900 blade systems. Designed to handle extensive virtualization and consolidation projects as well as HPC applications, its CPU and RAM specs are identical with those of the PRIMERGY RX2530 M1; internal storage capacity is limited to two 1.8 inch SATA SSDs. For increased flexibility, it offers extra boot options with local SATADOM and USB Flash devices. Like its rack cousin, the PRIMERGY BX2580 M1 supports Windows and Linux server operating systems as well as VMware and Oracle virtualization platforms comes with the ServerView management suite included. Please see the data sheet to learn more about configuration details and options.

The FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY RX2530 M1 is now available globally, with the FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY BX2580 M1 becoming generally available from the end of February 2015. Prices vary by region, model and configuration.
