3 pin ac adapter
07.05.2014, 20:17

I've probably missed some support bulletins explaining that, but does anybody have any idea why are new Lifebooks equiped with AC adapters using 3 pin wires (so called Mickey Mouse connectors)? The power cables are heavier than adapters themselves?!?!?

So, now we have even lighter notebooks (ultrabooks) with even smaller (slim and light) adapters - but this time with heavy power cable...

I've heard that it is related to devices having a HDMI interface?

Hi Josip,

We switched to 3-pin adapters because some users have noticed an uncomfortable "sizzle" coming from the Metal C cover around the keyboard when 2-pin adapters were used. In other words, the reason is that the new LIFEBOOKs are built from high-quality materials.

With best regards

Thank you Thomas...

One more thing... I have two customers complaining about that issue... If I order an additional 2-pin AC-adapter (either through as an upgrade component, or through spare parts channel) should I expect any problems with them working with S904/U904?

Any suggestion which (2-pin) adapter is most suitable for those systems? I mean, to rephrase my question, do you happen to know which 19V 65W 2-PIN AC adapter from older Lifebook models is smallest (yet, pin and connector compatible)?

Thank you and regards,
Josip

Thomas...

My colleague found a AC adapter from (I believe) S752 and it seems like it's working fine... It's small enough, it's 19V, it's rated as 65W, visually connector is the same as on 3-pin adapter, and has a 2-pin power cord connector...

Just pluged a U904 and (at least) Windows say the battery is charging...

The adapter mat.no. is 38020252 / FUJ:CP500582-XX ....
We'll go with it and see the customer feedback in week(s)/month(s) or so...

Thank you and regards,
Josip

Hi Josip,

Thank you very much for the follow-up - and please don't hesitate to let us know how the workaround plays out.

With best regards
