Office 2016 reinstall
20.04.2018, 19:18

Anyone has idea how to reinstall Microsoft Office 2016 (Home and Business) that was purchased with "digital" license along with Esprimo/Celsius...

since few months ago no more paper product keys are supplied, but a kind of embedded license as with Windows licenses are supplied for several years now...

Tried with Fujitsu DVD recovery media for Windows - and Windows activated normally... but no luck with Office (using previously created MS account)...

Hi Josip,
as far as I know you will need the Microsoft Account used on the first office activation, without that there are several ways to obtain the needed software but no legal way to activate it.
On a new computer, as for exemple Made4You ones, you could find a preactivated version of Microsoft Office that will requiere an activation code and a valid Microsoft Account in order to ends it's installation and starts working properly. With a proper Microsoft OEM Account you could obtain that preactivated version but think it will no help with an already activated Microsoft Office, so maybe that couldn't be your needed solution.
In a computer with no preactivated version installed, an end user could go to https://setup.office.com/ and follow the steps in order to download the proper version that she/he has bought with the her/his new computer. Again, as with the preactivated version, the activation key and a valid Microsoft Account will be needed and some steps must be followed in order to associate that license with a proper Microsoft Account.
Once that has been done for the firts time, next installations should be done from inside the Microsoft Account used on that first activation process explained before. In that case, just go to: https://account.microsoft.com/account
Then go to Services and Subscriptions section and there you'll find the office installation sequence that will download the proper Office version to your computer. There, you will also found the activation key used on the first activation process and you could use that key if you prefer to make an activation with no Microsoft Account association as was made on old times.
Hope that could help you somehow.

Hi guys,

We're still waiting for feedback from Fujitsu about whether there's a way to retrieve a license/product/activation key from scratch with standard Windows tools. Otherwise, the advice given by GGiner is perfectly accurate -- so kudos to you for the quick help!

Best regards,

Hi Josip,

Fujitsu support just replied to our open query, and this is their advice:

Office license keys are only stored on Microsoft's own servers. Fujitsu has no access to this database, and the process is set by MS directly.

In special problem cases such as yours, customers can directly contact the Microsoft Support Team under the following link:
https://support.office.com/en-us/?legRedir=true&CT...

That link will take you directly to "Office Help & Training".

Sorry there's no magic bullet Wink

Best regards

Thank you Thomas...

BUT... If you try to contact Microsoft and use the term AFO - that means that it's an OEM (Office) license... They will immediately stop discussion and will explain you that hardware provider is 100% responsible for that license!!!

I can only assume that's how it should be.

...and still, after two months, no response from Fujitsu support...

In the mean time, I've found out that our local distributor have no solution for that problem also, and they were in some cases forced to give away classic Microsoft Office licenses to the people who had same problem as I do (or, in fact, my customer)... and have stopped distributing Office licenses through Fujitsu channel...

So, I'm not optimistic that much that it's possible to retrieve license in any way - MS and FTS are playing table tennis with us... Sad

This will be a case where customer will use cracked Office and still be legal... Smile
