A Workstation's Workstation: FUJITSU CELSIUS R970

Are you working in design and manufacturing, video and post-production, research and development, or engineering and construction? Areas like these place incredible demands on your computing resources. Artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and big data analytics appear in nearly every domain, increasing the demands on a workstation. Is your workstation up to the task? Read below, because you don’t want to miss the FUJITSU CELSIUS R970, for sure!

So, which power-user are you?

In manufacturing, a balance of processing power, graphics power and runtime memory delivers a smooth workflow for engineering, design, simulation, and visualization processes. Moving between design applications, simulation tasks, data analytics, and visualization projects can keep even the most powerful workstation running full speed all day long. Staying productive means having a workstation that can keep up with you.

If your computing problem includes video, post-production, and special effects, then your workstation needs will easily outstrip the power delivered by a typical PC. Video editing, special effects, and high-resolution rendering can bring your workflow to a crawl. Depending on your workflow & software tools, multiple GPUs, many-core CPUs, and large memory capacity can accelerate your work. New technologies like artificial intelligence add performance demands, too. You will need plenty of memory, a fast, multi-core processor, and lots of GPU performance.

Virtual reality touches every professional design, engineering, and creative field today. VR’s advantages in experiencing designs and visualizing complex information help teams design faster, create better products, and avoid errors that increase project costs. Add the benefits of remote collaboration on projects in virtual environments, and virtual reality becomes an indispensable productivity tool.

Enter the CELSIUS R970

When your work demands more performance than your current workstation can deliver, a massively multi-core processor, multiple GPU workstation with extraordinary memory capacity could be the solution. The FUJITSU CELSIUS R970 is just such a workstation. It is an ultra-high-end workstation, which brings massive computing power, graphics performance, and memory capacity to your desk.

To deliver a combination of massively parallel CPU processing, multi-GPU computing and visualization, and enormous amounts of system memory, the CELSIUS R970 integrates three new technologies.  The workstation uses 2nd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors, and the processor options range from 4 cores to 28 cores per processor. Combining two 28-core processors with hyper-threading in the CELSIUS R970 can provide up to 56 computing cores and 112 processing threads.

In the CELSIUS R970, each processor supports up to 1.0 TB of DDR4 memory at a faster memory clock of 2933 MHz. Depending on the CPU chosen, the CELSIUS R970 can support 4.0 TB of memory when combined with the new Intel® Optane technology. Whichever way you slice it, the Fujitsu CELSIUS R970 delivers high-capacity memory at faster speeds and brings huge data sets closer to the CPU for faster processing of demanding workloads.

The goal of the Intel® Optane persistent memory is to add a large amount of runtime memory for applications with large data sets at an affordable cost. As the name implies, it is non-volatile memory. This can save workstation users time after a reboot because reloading a very large data set is much faster as the Intel® Optane memory does not need to reload the data from an SSD drive. Essentially, Intel® Optane technology bridges the gap between fast system memory and SSD storage, providing multiple benefits to workstation users.

The new generation of NVIDIA® Quadro RTX™ professional graphics cards, with NVIDIA’s new Turing GPU architecture, delivers more graphics power than ever. This new GPU architecture for the Quadro RTX products has major advances in efficiency and performance. Its architecture combines graphics processing and artificial intelligence inferencing into a single graphics pipeline, which brings real-time raytracing to workstations for the first time.

Naturally, the FUJITSU CELSIUS R970 has been tested and certified with the most important professional applications, making the system particularly robust and reliable.

A Workstation’s Workstation

FUJITSU CELSIUS R970 helps solve some of the toughest problems in computing. It is ideally suited for most demanding and memory intensive multi-threaded applications, such as high-end design and visualization, simulation, engineering, analysis as well as high-performance computing (HPC). Massively many-core processors take on demanding tasks in areas like simulation. Huge non-volatile memory capacity through Intel® Optane™ technology brings data closer to the CPU and accelerates workflows with big data. NVIDIA® Quadro RTX™ graphics combine graphics processing and artificial intelligence to deliver features like real-time ray tracing for the first time ever.

With maximum computing power, graphics performance, and memory capacity, the Fujitsu R970 is a monster of a workstation next to your desk.
